A few weeks ago I finished my 7-night cruise of the Mediterranean with Harmony of the Seas. This was my 15th cruise with Royal Caribbean and first cruise on an Oasis class ship, so I was very glad to see the usual Royal Caribbean touches onboard. There were many things that surprised me about this amazing ship and fantastic cruise.

Embarkation

Our sailing was the first sailing in which new passengers boarded in Rome so I was expecting it to be a very slow process, but it was the contrary. We made it from the pier to the ship in less than thirty minutes. Though this is a longer number compared to those who board in Barcelona, we arrived before they began the check in process so we had to wait for about twenty minutes. We were in and out of the check-in line in less than five minutes. A tip for inexperienced cruisers, with Royal Caribbean, you don't have to show up to the port at the time they tell you. You can actually show up much earlier around 10:30-11:00 depending on the sailing. By doing this you can maximize your time onboard and get the most for your money. You can also enjoy a tour of the ship while it still has very few people on board.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D6

Very clean, spacious, and large bathroom. Plenty of storage was available. Not too long of a walk from elevators and stairs.

Port Reviews

Naples

We had a private tour and we took the ferry over to Capri for the day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to get to areas such as the Blue Grotto before the crowds so we didn't need to wait long at all. We also saw all of the highlights of Capri and Anacapri, before heading back to the ship.

Barcelona

We got off the ship and walked around on La Rambla. We took the metro to Gaudi Park, which was very nice. We stopped at some of the places we went to the last time we were here. You need to take a bus from the port to town unless you want to talk about a 30-minute walk.

Marseille

My sister and I stayed on the ship and made our own sea day, while our parents went on a private wine tour. They said they learned a lot, saw beautiful scenery, and got to taste a lot of different wines they would like to buy at home.

Florence (Livorno)

We had another private tour to the Cinque Terra. We chose to only see two of the towns in the Cinque Terra before heading back, but the towns we saw were beautiful and I would come back here next time to see the other three towns.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

The town was beautiful and once you made it into town, you could see some great views of the ship. The port seemed like a place you could stay a long time in, but the ship was only there for a few hours.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We stayed three days after the cruise and saw all of the big sights. A beautiful city!
