Family group cruise with GrandParents (us), children and grandchildren. Embarkation was a major issue for us as some family did not bring required documentation to board and missed the cruise. Carnival did all they could to assist in securing missing documents and are to commended for their efforts. Overall experience was average as compared to other Carnival cruises. Main disappointments were in the Scarlet dining room service level and dinner food quality, probably associated.
Our party of 8 was seated at a nice large table but most often were the last in our section to have our dinner order taken and filled even though we were ALWAYS on time. At least half of the entrees were barely warm indicating a delay in delivery to the dining room by staff. We had wine (wine package) and EVERY night we had to remind the staff to bring our unfinished bottles to the table. Other cruises the bottles would be on the table prior to seating.
Arrival back in port was 2 1/2 hours late due to speed issues. This was our second cruise on Dream. We won't be on the Dream again.
Disappointed that service level has declined. Turn down service no longer offered, cabin cleaning or tidying up no longer offered. Chairs on balcony are not comfortable (and never have been). Cabin steward was friendly and did a good job.
Montego Bay port had only a small area off the ship with limited shopping opportunities unlike other ports. If you wanted to shop, a shuttle or taxi was $7 each way to the shopping district. Since we had 8 people, it wasn't worth the expense. Disappointed.
