Sail Date: Jul 2016

I have cruised a few times before with other companies and this was one of the best. The food was superior to any other cruise I have been on. We ate every diner in the main dining room, the food was so good we never felt the need to try the specialty dining. We had anytime dining and the hostess did a great job of offering us a table with the same waiters every night (as per our request). All the staff were very friendly and accommodating which really made it a pleasant experience. We had an interior cabin and it was very spacious and comfortable. Embarkation was very smooth, we hardly waited to check in despite the long line, it moved very quickly. Our cabin was ready as soon as we boarded. We were offers beverage package upgrades and specialty dining a few times but it was not annoying or too much as I had read in other reviews.

The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was that we were disappointed that due to bad weather were unable to dock in St Petersburg on the first day, which gave only one day in Russia, instead of two, and an extra day at sea. I suppose that this was not the crew's fault and the activities staff did a good job quickly putting together a program for the day, nonetheless it was very disappointing. At least we had booked a Celebrity excursion so being refunded was not a problem. I don't think people that had booked tours with private companies were not as lucky.

Port Reviews

Rostock (Warnemunde)

We walked off the ship right to the train station where we took the train to Rostock. We spent most of the day visiting this lovely medieval town. We returned to the ship for an early supper and since the ship wasn't leaving until midnight we spend the evening exploring Warnemunde. This is a very cute fisherman village and beach resort town filled with lots of German tourists so there was lots of activity including a small market and live music.

Tallinn

We spent the day exploring Tallinn Old Town on our own. Everything is very close in the centre and you can easily see it all in the time you have in port. We went to visit the Occupation Museum, which is just outside the old town walls. It is a small museum but very interesting. I highly recommend it. It only takes an hour or so to visit.

Stockholm

We rushed to get off the ship as soon as possible and took a cab directly to the Vasa Museum. The taxi was expensive (about 40 euros due to some construction!) but well worth it to get to the museum just as it opened. For our first hour there the museum was very quiet, but afterwards it was packed with people and there was a long line of people waiting to enter. This is an amazing museum, a must see!

Afterwards we walked around the old town and eventually walked back to the ship. It's a very easy place to just walk around and explore.

Copenhagen

We just walked off the ship and explored the city on our own. There are lots of highlights to see just walked from the ship to the centre.

Amsterdam

We spent some time here before and after the cruise. We stayed at the Ibis hotel right near the train station and within walking distance from where the ship docked. We spent most of our time here walking around and exploring different parts of the city.
