My husband and I usually cruise on Holland America but the timing didn't work this year so based on the advise of our travel agent we elected to try Princess. We were assured that we would love the cruise and Princess would not disappoint us. Huge mistake! We reserved a window suite as we wanted the suite benefits. However, they were sadly lacking. Yes, we had the free laundry (which was returned within 2 days) but there wasn't a dedicated suite lounge like we enjoyed on Holland and not a real dedicated person to help us with reservations, etc. Our steward (yes, one!) was assigned 20 staterooms...10 on our floor and 10 on another. We rarely saw him and our room was never touched before 3pm every day. I do not fault him as he was trying to provide good service but clearly Princess needs to adjust their stateroom per steward ratio. The food in Sabatinni's was exceptional. The MDR and lido were poor. Our biggest issue was the lack of communication and coordination between the dining crew. We usually purchase a wine package but because we dined in the Crown Grill on the first night (free) it was not offered to us because it was only being sold in the Lido and MDR. The port disembarkations were usually slow which lead to our excursions leaving late and being cut a little short. So, we are going back to Holland where we know the process and level of service. The ports were nice. The Giants Causeway and Normandy beaches were the best!
Storage was wonderful and the overall room was very good. There were areas (bathroom) where there was rust and mold that needs some attention. It was difficult to get the temperature in the room right. Pretty noisy outside on the deck above. We could never figure out was making all of the noise.
Not a lot to do. It was quiet and relaxing. Found a great burger pub!
Cute little port town. It was a Sunday so not much was open.
We took an all day Princess tour. Our guide was amazing and told us lots of information on the area.
Interesting. We did a Whisky tour.
