July 20-28, 2016

I traveled with my wife and 2 daughters (13 and 10). This is my children's 2nd cruise and my 5th (3 on Carnival, 1 on Royal Caribbean)

We arrived at the terminal at about 10:15 am. I like to arrive early to beat the crowds. We were through security and in the waiting area without actually waiting in a line. We boarded the ship between 11:30 and 12:00. We went up to the Lido deck and we had tacos and burritos at the Mexican restaurant. They were fresh and very good. We had them throughout the cruise.

Scenic Grand Ocean View

Cabin 6K

We booked cabin 9111 on the Lido Deck (forward facing on the starboard side of ship). I chose this room because of the scenic views, 2 huge windows ceiling to floor. This cabin is also larger than your standard rooms. The room had 2 twins pushed together to make queen, a fold out couch, and a lounge chair and there is actually still a very large amount of floor area.

The air conditioning in this cabin was awesome kept the room nice and cold at certain points the kids complained it was too cold.

I was upset to arrive in the room to find one of the electric blinds that was in the down position. It was broken and was unusable the entire cruise. I booked this room because of this view and paid extra for it. After 2 days of complaining I was finally told that it would not be fixed for the entire cruise and I was given OBC for the problem. What housekeeping would do would be manually raise it and tie it up so that the blind remained open, and they lowered it in the evening. It was not the best, but did the job.

This room does make a lot of noises and could not figure it out but some really loud bangs at time. Some of the tiles on the ceiling also rattled with the vibration of the ship. Also being in the front of the ship there was a decent amount of movement felt, but that was not really a big deal.

Housekeeping was great and kept the room nice for us.
