The ship décor was fresh and modern. The port stops are all amazing with plenty to see and do. We did a combo of our own excursions and Carnival's. We booked the Mt. Vesuvius/Pompeii excursion through Carnival and it was really good. The comedians were good. Overall we enjoyed the cruise. However, we had a set late dining table at 8:15pm and for the first 5 nights, they kept moving our table, each night telling us 'this' will be your table for the week. This was frustrating (there were 4 of us). At one point they wanted to set us between 2 noisy serving stations - we nixed that and got a window table. We never saw any singing or entertainment from the dining staff either. We actually didn't realize until the 8th night, when speaking to our server, that we were actually 'overflow' from the set-time dining room and we were actually in the 'any-time' dining room, Havana. We have cruised Carnival many years and never had this happen. Ahh! This now made sense. They only do the entertainment once in any-time dining at 7:30pm, so that's why we didn't see any at our 8:15pm seating and also why we kept getting moved around. If they have overflow from set-dining, then they need to better plan the set vs open tables. Food was good; seemed like some new items as well as authentic specials based on the port of call.

Cabin Review

Balcony

We were in a Deck 6 balcony in the back above the Havana Suites on deck 5. Our balcony overlooked their patio and people could walk by their patio as well. Notes say guests of those should be over 12, but we saw young children (3-4yrs) in the Havana private pool. Not sure if those are worth it - not much privacy. The side balconies on Vista don't have a direct 'down' view of the ocean due to the deck 5 walkways. Also, the room had 1 less closet (no shelf closet) and no lower cupboard space at the vanity as compared to their other ships like Breeze/Dream/Glory,etc.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We stayed a night in Barcelona before the cruise and did our own 'walking' tour of the sights and architectural buildings. From the city center, getting to the port was easy by taking the Metro L3 line (4 of us shared a T10 ticket=10Euros) to the Columbus Monument. From there 3 euros on the shuttle bus takes you to your Carnival boat/port.

Marseille

We did the Trolley hop-on-hop-off Circuits 1 and 2. Each circuit was about 6.5 eruos pp. It Was a great way to see Marseille and its sites at our leisure.

Rhodes

We walked to Old Town form the port and walked to the beach near the Casino. They wanted 6 euros to enter the Casino and our passports (we only had licenses and carnival card) so just went to the beach. They charge 5 euros if you want a chair/umbrella per person. We just rented 1 chair and I laid on the nice 'unsandy' beach! The beach is actually tiny tiny ground up pebbles!
