I'm a planner and I booked this cruise back in Feb. 2015, for my husband and I and our grown daughter, son-in-law, 10 yr. old grandson and 7 yr old granddaughter. At the time I debated whether to book a Disney cruise or NCL's Nickelodeon cruise on the Jewel. When I was pricing out Disney, my 10 yr. old grandson was considered an adult on some of the pricing. What, he's 10, come on. We had done NCL in Hawaii and loved it so I booked the NCL Jewel.
Originally, I booked the Haven Suite 10004 for us since I like to have a living room and balcony to spread out. I hate having to sit in a chair or bed in a room. Since we would have a suite, I told the kids I would at least get them a porthole room. I reconsidered and got the kids and grands a large balcony suite so they would also have access to the consegier, butler and steward.
Since my son-in-law and grandson have food allergies (allergic to gluten, soy and dairy) by upgrading them to the large balcony suite they were also offered the free dining package at the specialty restaurants, along with the free ultimate drink package. The grands also got the same deal. This way they could meet with the chefs and determine what they could eat and what to avoid. We were later told to stay away from the main dining areas due to their combined food allergies. So, I was glad that we got this thrown in for free when I booked the trip. Having all three of these allergies is challenging but it is not impossible with some planning. Our butler gave them gluten free cookies, however it still contained soy and they couldn't eat them. Sad.
This is a Haven Suite which entitles you to many Haven amenities. Very spacious. Has a couch (which makes into a hide-a-bed), chair and lounge in the living room, along with a side balcony. Dining room has a table with four chairs. There is a small bathroom when you first come into the suite. The bedroom is very large and has a large bathroom and changing area, in addition to another balcony in the front of the ship. There is also a desk and lounge in the bedroom. There are two robes, slippers, binoculars, and laptop computer to use. Oh, and two safes.
We also got the Haven Suite 10004 which housed my daughter, son-in-law and 10 year old grandson and 7 year old granddaughter. The grands slept on the hide-a-bed. They also loved having a TV in the bathroom so they could soak in the tub and watch sports.
Both suites were identical just on the opposite side of the ship. There were dvd machines in both the living room and bedroom. You get the movies from the butler. There is also a coffee machine and refrigerator, which the butler stocks each day. The butler also brings you a mid-afternoon snack of fruit, chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, etc. each day.
The bed was sooo comfortable. The towel animals by the steward were entertaining along with the mints on the bed. A lot of people say they are not in their rooms but to sleep but I like to spread out and not feel cramped so I book the suites. There are a lot of people on the ship around the bars, swimming pool and decks. This is a little bit of heaven to have some peace and quiet away from everyone.
Lots to see in Seattle. Went to the Space Needle, Chihuly's, Pike's Market, Aquarium, Park, took the monorail, and hands on museum. Ate at the Crab Pot when we got back in port since the cruise line does not serve crab legs on the ship.
Be ware when flying home! We got off the ship at 9 am and did not catch our flight home until 11:30 pm that night. Had to rent a car so we had somewhere to store our luggage and not carry it around town. We went around Seattle and saw some things however left for the airport about 4 pm. You cannot check your luggage into the SeaTac Airport until 4 hours before your flight. This meant that we had to sit around the check-in area, prior to security, for hours with our luggage!!! I was told by American Airlines that this is the airport policy because all the cruises to Alaska and they do not want all the luggage a head of time.
Lumberjack Show entertaining.
Totem pole park was very interesting.
