I recently spent a week aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line Getaway. The cruise departed from Miami and visited ports in Roatan, Honduras; Belize City, Belize; Costa Maya, Mexico and Cozumel, Mexico. The weather was great, the ship was fantastic and I had a wonderful week.

The Getaway is a large ship built in 2014 and holds a maximum of 3,969 guests. There are 1,640 crew members aboard to take care of those guests. They have separate pool areas for families and adults along with five water slides and quite an extensive sports complex. The sport decks include a ropes course, rock climbing wall, basketball court, mini-golf course and more.

Accommodations on the Getaway range from the luxury Haven with exclusive amenities, to suites, mini-suites, balcony rooms, inside rooms to studio rooms. I took the cruise on the Getaway to learn more about Norwegian’s studio rooms and Solo Cruisers Program. I was not disappointed.

Cabin Review

Studio Stateroom

Cabin T1

The studio rooms are cozy (at 100 square feet) but are well designed and have most everything you could want. They are gathered together in one private area on the ship which requires key-card access. The rooms have a double bed, plenty of closet space for a week and I found the shower and toilet room to be of reasonable size for a solo passenger. There is a small desk and a stool to sit on as well as an in-room sink and storage under the bed. The only thing missing from the studio is a mini-bar which I rarely use and never missed. Studio cabins are priced for single occupancy which allows solo cruisers to avoid high single supplements.
