  3. Norwegian Spirit
Just returned back in Melbourne, Australia after a month in Europe. After a week in Paris...yum...and 4 days in stunning Venice...we excitedly joined the Spirit for a Mediterranean cruise. We had been on a Celebrity cruise 2 years earlier through the Pacific and just loved it. Stupidly, we expected the same with the Norwegian Spirit. The Ports were the key interest to both my partner and I and fitted into our itinerary perfectly. But after a bit of disorganisation getting aboard we entered our balcony room to find I had to clean the balcony doors as the glass was filthy and covered in salt. You couldn't see through them! Not a great start. Nevertheless, the room was comfortable. Without going 'over board' the ship was dirty...the carpet dirty ...lifts dirty and the ship had a terrible second hand clothing shop smell throughout. Truth. The ship is old and tired. It needed work. Painting, re varnishing, carpets. Yuk. Even rusted door handles. Food? Hmmm. Well..it all looked good but was tasteless and little variety. The Raffles area was horrid. Noisy...and yes dirty. The pool area was our nightmare. Couldn't relax. One small over crowded pool...noisy with kids and teenagers and a very loud band ...every afternoon!. With respect to the ports they were great. And in fact it would've been great to stay over night at a few such as Mykonos ..as you had to be back by 4pm most afternoons. Hence each port stop was a bit rushed. So...sorry to say but if this had been our first cruise. Never again. It will be a while before we consider another. To travel to Europe for Australians is a big trip.

Disappointing...
