My husband and I along with our two teenage kids (ages 17 and 14) along with my sister and another family took this cruise. First let me say that we are loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers and been on more cruises than I can count. This was our first time on the Oasis. The ship is beautiful, it's huge, updated and has so many incredible features. For starters the state rooms are nice and perhaps slightly bigger than the Freedom of the Seas. The Cabin Stewart was very nice and provided us with any requests in a timely manner. The dining room is very nice but, honestly the dining room SILK is very modern I so much prefer the decor on Freedom of the Seas, that dining room was so much more elegant. In terms of the food in the dining room, given the thousands of people they serve and I mean thousands the food is a solid B+, it's very good but not excellent. The portions are very small, for example the Caesar Salad is very small you can consume it in three bites. But, after the first night we just ordered two portions and it was the size of a normal dinner salad. The entree portions are normal size but not huge. I didn't care for any of the desserts, I found them to be bland. The service was very good and dinner took about 1.5 hours. The Windjammer buffet is total chaos. We dined there for breakfast and for lunch, I recommend you go to the dining room for breakfast it is so much more civilized. The Windjammer is crowded everyone walking around with food it is also very noisy. The quality of the food in the Windjammer is a B-. The food gets cold quickly and the hamburgers are good but all over cooked, the salad bar had lettuce, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions that is it, not much variety. The desserts were boring except for the chocolate cake. Now in terms of the pool, they have a few pools, the deck gets very very hot so the need to cool off is a necessity. But, the pools are packed with people like sardines. To make matters worse they take up a whole pool while cruising to do activities i.e. belly flop contest, volleyball etc while the crowd melts in the heat. This leaves just one pool for thousands to use while the other pool is taken up with these events (although they are not all day it a good chunk of the day). Central Park is a nice area to walk around but I feel as though there is much wasted space. I almost think another pool or more stores would have been better. The boardwalk unless you have little kids is completely boring to me. Overall we had a nice time, but I think the next vacation will be land vacation as I just can't cope with the crowds at the pool and Windjammer. Next time we cruise I am going to go back on the Freedom of the Seas it's smaller but so much better in so many other ways. I feel like the Oasis is just a bit too big and serving that many passengers ultimately effects quality and service.
