From Ads on TV we caught the "bug". Then since my father served in WWii and was in Budapest, I had two bridge pictures to find. The concerge at Hilton Castle Wall was very helpful and we were pleased to find our ship docked between the two bridges. We chose to spend a few extra days in Budapest, and could have spent the entire time exploring the Castle Wall, especially how Hilton incorporated into wall. Our view from room was directly across Danube from Parliament and there is no bad time to look out at that. The Viking crew at hotel was wonderful and our embarkation was smooth as silk. The Bragi had a wonderful crew and our stateroom was great (this is good because we were comparing against the Hilton). In a nut shell - our program director was fantastic. The dining was exquisite and entertainment was FUN! I would make ONE suggestion. Let clients know in advance that you offer fantastic shore excursions that can be booked through you. We did some outside tours and they did not compare at all to Viking tours. The quiet boxes were so nice and very easy to use. Our trip included a ship transfer due to high water and the only inconvenience was packing our bags. We got off Bragi for shore tour, had lunch on the town - how Viking manages to find places on short notice to feed that many people so pleasantly is a mystery. After our tour we bused back to Skadi and felt like something was askew...the lobby, halls, our room --- we were on the same ship! Instead of a disaster, we actually got to see a little more of the area than on shipboard and got to visit a place we would not have seen. We did not have children and there were none on our cruise - don't consider teenager as child. She actually smiled and interacted with others and seemed to enjoy. We are looking forward to going again, and it will be another Viking River Cruise. Wish Viking would find a way to do North American (USA, Canada, Alaska) cruises. My suggestion to all - get trip insurance. As result of health issue we had to cancel and even that was a pleasant experience. One year later and WOW. Most on our ship were in the 50 to 70 range, with one 94 year old...who walked barefoot on cobblestone street...
