We are Platinum level Princess cruisers, but we did not decide to make our third trip to Alaska until late in the spring and Princess was sold out so we decided to try Celebrity. We were quite pleased with the Celebrity Concierge level cruise.

The Solstice is a nice ship in excellent condition. Lots of public space to relax and never seemed crowded at all; I think because most of the staterooms are balcony rooms and fewer inside staterooms. Our stateroom was a nice size and bathroom and shower were larger than Princess which is a good feature. All staff were friendly and accommodating.

Ocean View buffet station set up is better than Princess buffet set up. However, the main dining room is not as nice as Princess. Service in the main dining area is rushed and they just want you in and out, whereas Princess takes their time and seems more like a premium restaurant. Also the Solstice main dining room looks more like a banquet hall, while Princess main dining looks more like a nice restaurant. The food quality was good.
