With the interesting port calls, the brochure promising wonderful food and superb entertainment it sounded fantastic so we treated ourselves to a suite. However the food is basic in the Horizon, vegetarian options are useless everywhere, and the Oriental dining room is average pub food.
The entertainment was mainly the on board team in singing and dancing shows, a comedian no-one had heard of and some acrobatics on suspended fabric, all boring.
The serious outbreak of gastroenteritis should have been avoided. The handrails and lift buttons were not clean, and the only cleaning we saw was in the Crows Nest bar when a waitress was half heartedly wiping over tables and chairbacks following the gastic outbreak. There were no free standing hand sanitizers everywhere as you see on other ships and the entrance to the Horizon had only 3 washbasins that people obviously weren't going to queue to use.
We couldn't fault the cabin, our steward was very thorough and it was immaculate. However, although I realize that you can't put bleach into your sanitation system the small from the toilet was revolting and particularly bad when in port
