Great cruiseline; wish the ports of call had more to see.

  • Destination: South America

We had never been to South America so we decided on this cruise. Rio De Janeiro and Buenos Aires were places on our bucket list.

Our final decision for this trip was that the price of this cruise seemed to be quite good.

Oceania is a our favorite cruise line. The size of the ship is perfect for us. Not too much waiting. Food is excellent, especially at the specialty restaurants. Service is also excellent.

Overall we enjoyed this cruise very much. We met some new friends.

The excursions were a bit weak on this trip. Locations not as good as in their europe offerings. Some excursions had such bad traffic that most of the time was spent on the bus.

Also, this cruise had more ports which required tendering from further away. There were a lot of complaints due to the length of time and weather situation (hot!).

The South America cruise is good if you like warm weather. There isn't as much to see as the Europe cruises.

City Tour

Traffic is bad. A good way to see the city. Nice to be in an Air Conditioned bus.

Corcovado Mountain & Christ Redeemer statue

The tour had us out early in the morning. This is the best way because it gets so busy. Only way if you want to see it and get some pictures in without hundreds of other tourists.

Sugarloaf Mountain

A must go, earlier the better, gets busy in the afternoon

Tijuca Forest

This tour was just OK, not much to see. The forest was planted which was disappointing.

Sao Paulo Tour

I was going to give a poor review, however, we learned that our city tour in a car was better than what the other cruise people took in a bus booked with the cruise line. They spent most of the time in the bus. We spent a lot of time in the car, but we did get to see a market (and have lunch there) and a few places in Sao Paulo. To be honest the traffic is so bad, if I knew, I might have just stayed on the ship. But lucky we went because it rained on that day.

Winery Tour

I recommend this wine tour. Montevideo is a really nice place. Did not know anything about Uruguary, I would come back to here one day. Great BBQ near the port at El Palenque, highly recommend coming here.

Nice dinner show. Food was OK. Dancing was great, but show was a little long.
