We had previously done the 8 day cruise on the Rhine with Viking and were looking forward to a cruise with them along the Danube. We were not disappointed. The trip was to be from Budapest to Nuremberg with stops along the way. Because of the height of the river, the ship did not make it to Regensburg and Nuremberg. They were able to bus us to our scheduled tours in Regensburg and Nuremberg. We knew before making our reservations, that there is always a possibility of modifications of the trip due to the water level. Because of the inconvenience of the long bus rides, they provided us with lunch at biergartens.

The ship was very clean and you could hardly sense any movement on the river while docked and cruising. We enjoyed all of our meals and the available selections. We were fine with the wine and beer service at meals, and the availability of drinks if desired in the lounge as we are not heavy drinkers. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our cruise was for our 40th anniversary later in the year. One night when we returned to our room there was a bottle of wine, 2 glasses, a small cake, a card, two towels arranged as swans kissing and artificial rose petals on the bed. We met 2 couples from Kent- England and Ohio who we enjoyed time with at meals and in the lounge.

The tour guides were very knowledgeable and added valuable insights to the tours. We were given great instructions on the use of the subway in Vienna and had no problems getting around on our own during free time. The average age of travelers was about 55+. We would definitely cruise with them again.
