It was a Viking cruise! We had previously traveled on a Viking River Cruise, and when we learned that Viking was starting up an ocean cruise, we jumped on board. We selected the Eastern Mediterranean since the ports of call seemed so interesting to us. Our departure city was Istanbul and we were to have explored that city before setting sail. However, and this is to Viking's credit, due to terrorist incidents in the city near the date of our departure, the itinerary was changed. We flew into Istanbul, but Viking set sail the night of our arrival for a port where we could visit the ruins of Ancient Troy.

The cruise was simply lovely. Our cabin was terrific! The regular and specialty restaurants were wonderful and the staff superb!

The included shore excursions were well planned and we took advantage of many of them. Due to the ship's smaller size, we were able to dock very close to the sights. All of the guides were extremely knowledgeable and made each excursion interesting and enjoyable.
