We wanted to visit the countries along the Danube and the river cruise gave us the best way to see multiple cities.

We were met at the airport and driven to the ship. Embarkation went quickly and smoothly. The Viking Freya had just been refurbished and everything looked wonderful. Our cabin (with French balcony) was comfortable for the 2 of us. The food served aboard was plentiful and well-prepared. The chef used local foods and specialties in designing the menus. Outside of set meal times, there were pastries near the coffee station in the mid-morning and cookies in the mid-afternoon.

Onboard we had informative brief talks each evening preparing us for the next day's stop. Additionally locals came aboard to perform regional dances and songs. Each port had an included tour with optional tours that could be purchased to replace or supplement the included tour. The tours were well-run. Each cabin has audio receivers and earphones in a charging unit so you use the same set for the entire trip. There were large umbrellas available to borrow for when it rained.

Cabin Review

French Balcony

Our cabin was comfortable for the 2 of us. It was nice to be able to view the scenery from the room. The shower and bathroom while compact was well-designed.
