Never having been on a river cruise we took the recommendations of friends to cruise with Viking. I can't say enough about Viking. They are a professional operation yet kind and accommodating. They couldn't do enough for us. The food was outstanding, enriched by a tour of their kitchen that gave me a new appreciation of what they do. The included excursions are focused on the town you stop at. The guides are very knowledgeable of the area and they discuss many aspects of life there - education, history, economy, etc. Our ship had a terrific piano player/singer who entertained us nightly. Occasionally local entertainers were brought on board which enriched our experience. Many of the ships have elevators but I would not call the ship totally disability friendly. My favorite thing -- heated bathroom floors. WOW! The cruises are a little pricey but worth every penny. You get your monies worth. We will travel with them again.
Room was very comfortable. We really enjoyed our balcony while cruising. Gigantic, fluffy bath towels, lots of storage space, lovely glass corked bottles of water, lots of electric outlets both 220 and 110. Truly luxurious experience.
Lovely, quaint town.
Enjoyed learning about the town and surrounding area. Just lovely.
