Had a wonderful experience on a previous Viking River cruise which made us anxious to try their ocean experience. Really impressed by the proposed itinerary. The relatively small size of the ship allowed it to visit offbeat ports.

Viking has corrected every problem a sophisticated traveler would have with cruising. There is no casino. There are no children under 12. There are no interior cabins. There are no silly street fair events or "adult" games. Except for the specialty restaurants (note no surcharge) no reservations are required for dinner. No matter what time you go you never ever have to eat dinner with a stranger unless you choose to. Many amenities are included: Internet; free wine and beer with lunch and dinner; and, a free tour in each port visited. The food was excellent and reflected each port we were visiting that day. Same with the "free" wine and beer offered. It did not come from a paper box. The decor was elegant but not over-the-top. The staff was amazingly helpful. I have cruised on Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Celebrity. After experiencing sophistication of Viking I can never go back.
