This was a 12 day cruise tour that began in Shanghai and ended in Beijing, with a 5 night cruise on the Yangtze in the middle. The arrangements were very smooth, including intra-China flights. The ship appeared to be old but refurbished. The service was very friendly and very attentive. The food on board was excellent, with a mix of Western and Chinese foods. There were several informative lectures about the sights we'd be visiting and about China itself. The entertainment was China-themed, performed by the crew who had other jobs on board. The public areas were beautiful. The cabins were small size, compered to an ocean liner, but all the cabins had verandas, which was great for viewing the 3 Gorges and the locks of the dam. There was often a lot of walking involved to get from the ship to either the bus or the sight itself. In fact this whole trip involved a lot of walking, sometimes up very long staircases. The whole experience was let down by the return flight by Air China, has a frequent flyer (20 flights this year ) It was like going back 30 years. Why did we leave from T3 and arrive back in T2? I tried to change it but Viking didn't wont to know! I wont be going with viking again. Virgin say they are an equal partner there not.
