We wanted to see tulips in the Netherlands in bloom. In spite of our early arrival we were taken directly to our ship. Because we had flown during the night, we were too tired to attempt to do anything on our own in the city. Refreshments were available and comfortable places to wait were provided. Our cabin was available before the posted time, for which we were very grateful. The ship was beautiful, our accommodations were wonderful and the food was beyond what I had expected. Never have done a river cruise before, it would have been helpful to know that there were buses available to take us in to town after we checked in before we even arrived. We might have planned our time in Amsterdam better to see some things on our own, like the Anne Frank House, or one of the museums.. Entertainment on the ship was mostly entertaining. Honestly, after the city tours and the occasional extra excursion, staying up for the entertainment was sometimes difficult. I have shared my experience with friends, neighbors, and coworkers and recommended a Viking River Cruise if they were looking for first class travel. The service was excellent and the staff friendly and willing to help however they could. I would take a Viking River Cruise 3 times a year if I could afford it.
