  • Destination: Norwegian Fjords

We loved Viking River Cruises and tried to take Ocean Cruise #1 - sold out.

Signed in for a cancellation. Then booked #2.

Very interested in Norway. We had worked with Sweden many years ago.

Air Travel did look very rough or impossible but were assured all would be fine.

Headed to Vancouver by ferry from Vancouver Island the day before

tp make sure we did arrive on time for airport set up before flight at 10 AM on the 5th.

Noon no plane, plane arrived late - needed service, needed new airline shift

for the late flight, new staff arrived, plane could not be put in service. So new flights had to be set up and we were off at 8:30 PM to Toronto.

Late evening we picked up our luggage and we were sent to hotel with meal and breakfast tickets. Arrived too late to use for dinner and left too early next morning to use for breakfast.

Second day we were sent to London and no tickets were available to head us on to

Bergen. We spent that whole night sitting on a couch with all our luggage around us.

He slept and I watched over everything.

Our daughter got in touch with travel agent as we could not reach Viking on a weekend - offices and phones were closed! Third day - we were on a flight to Bergen, and picked up by a Taxi set up by Viking. He was the best part of our 3 days! Told him our story and he talked and toured us all the way to the ship! We did eat a needed meal quickly No time to see any of Bergen ourselves!!! Told it was the best of all cities anyone saw. The ship left early evening and we saw a little as we headed north.

We did like the ship, the people, the food but we were exhausted and it took us longer

to settle in with all ahead. We missed Day 1 and most of Day 2 on the ship. Lost!

Who do we blame?

Plane Trip was not well planned by Viking to even make it in 1 1/2 day.

It did look like timing was almost impossible anyway. Air Canada had a plane problem too. No one looked after us to make sure we would arrive to our cruise on time. We did not expect any of this to really happen. Never has this happened to us in all our past cruises with anyone anywhere..

We did enjoy the travel up the west of Norway. We loved the country. We love their people. There are some great memories - and some bad memories.

Our flight home was setup the right way. Thanks.

We were home just 3 days and my healthy hubby suffered a sudden stroke.

He almost crashed my car and could not talk or walk well. I drove him quickly to the nearby hospital and he is now starting to recover.

We have been too busy to explain what to never do to any other tourist with Viking - please! We strongly miss seeing Bergen!

Thank You for listening - I hope - for others!

Cabin Review

Cabin queen bed 6066

Cabin worked well and we were glad we did have the curtains in June!!!

Staff was excellent and worked very well for us in room, at breakfast, lunch

and evening dining. Maybe almost too many restaurants.

Late arrival meant we could not get new reservations made for the Italian

restaurant till trip was ending - we did eat there once and would have liked to dine there

more often!
