My first river cruise. I took the pre-tour in Basel, which was informative and the guides gave advice on how to invest my free time. The transfer from hotel to ship was seamless. On board, the cabin was cozy but there was a wide variety of public spaces, big and small, to which one could repair. Cabin amenities included a regularly-refilled bottle of mineral water, very nice. There were few enough passengers to provide good variety in the people I met, yet sufficient that one could dine with new folks as often as desirable. Dining was casual and the kitchen was fabulous. A nice variety of daily specials and some steady offerings throughout the cruise. Generous servings but not so much as to be uncomfortable. Generous pours of the wine-of-the-evening! I'm no night owl, so can't comment on the entertainment. The daily preview of next day's activities was energetic and informative. Each day's included tour was led by a guide very familiar with the area and its history, often offering personal vignettes as well. I took only one optional tour, the included tours were generous enough! Service on board ... well, no one could do ENOUGH for any of us. Bottles of water as we left for tours, umbrellas to loan if the sky threatened (or even if it was just too sunny) ... a nicely curated shop on board. We did have an evening of German entertainment with a barrel organ and an accordianist, which got everyone in a good mood and many up dancing. Fun! I would certainly go again, but probably to a different river just to see new places. Thanks for a very lovely week!
The bed takes up the majority of the room, but storage space was good. Bath amenities were pleasant and the space was efficient. Lots of public spaces, both large and small, to make up for the confined cabin space.
