We were on a Viking River cruise and enjoyed it so much we decided to try the Viking Ocean cruise. I was concerned over the large number of passengers (920, which apparently is considered small) but we did not overwhelm any port (although that may have had more to do with timing -- April). I know people who were on the larger ships and when 2 or 3 went into a port like Santorini at the same time they couldn't move without bumping into other tourists.

The few ports where we couldn't tie up and had to take "liberty boats" into port went very smoothly. We never had to wait more than a few minutes for the next boat.

Viking tries to get you to upgrade your cabin category by offering more reservations at their specialty restaurants but the buffet and pool restaurants were so good that we didn't even use all the reservations we had.

Cabin Review

Cabin penthouse junior suite

Well appointed roomy cabin. The amenities for the penthouse junior suite, free laundry, pressing, shoe shine, refill of refrigerator, etc, made for a nice trip. The staff were especially friendly and eager to serve.
