My sister and I wanted to take a Danube river cruise with our husbands and one another. We saw the Viking ads on t.v. and chose Budapest as our destination because we agreed that the ads made it look so beautiful. We didn't want small, windowless cabins and rough seas. A river cruise seemed like the perfect holiday for all of us and it was. Our cabins were bright--loved the large, openable windows. We did not have to concern ourselves with finding hotels, arranging transfers or organizing shore tours. Everything was looked after and we felt well cared for. A really great experience for all of us and especially for me, since it was my first cruise ever. . Our fellow travellers were enthusiastic and so much fun to be with. Meals were excellent, choices were good and service was top notch. Staff were well trained, helpful and personable The shore guides were knowledgable and made the tours informative and entertaining. There were appropriate levels of activity i.e. walking speeds and distances on the shore tours. Evening guest entertainment and shipboard activities were paired with our destinations. I really loved the apple strudel demo and tasting. What made the whole experience extra special was our onboard entertainer, Laszlo. Every evening he got us all signing and dancing to his perfect arrangements of our favourite songs in the lounge. Strangers became friends and friends became family. Well done!
Cabin was clean, bright, well-appointed. Lots of room for storage. Good lighting and nice to have the t.v. and movie choices. I loved the idea that I could open our window and check the weather and sights and sounds so easily. I even filmed the river as we travelled and that is my new relaxing happy place video on my phone. I just watch it and remember how good it felt to be on the cruise
Very touristy town, but did enjoy a chance to explore the town, have a drink and shop on our own here.
