We wanted a river cruise because my wife was reluctant to go on an ocean cruise. We also wanted to visit Eastern Europe and thought that a Viking River Cruise would be both a good way to try a water travel experience as well as structured land touring. We were right on both counts. The ship was elegant, the service superb and personal, the food outstanding! The land tours were well organized, the tour guides were locals who were knowledgeable, spoke excellent English and were very open about the realities of daily life in their respective countries.

As a vegetarian, I was very appreciative of the attention to my dietary needs paid by the maitre d' and the chef. They checked with me daily and the special dishes were truly delicious. It was also great to be treated to local wines for each dinner from the different countries we were visiting.

Our Viking River Cruise from Budapest to Bucharest was truly an outstanding experience. We now understand why so many of the other guests we met had been on multiple Viking tours. We are trying to decide on our next one now!

Veranda Suite

Cabin AA

We loved it! Beautiful accommodations which were well appointed. The stateroom staff kept our cabin clean and provided delicious fresh fruit each day. And the two bottles of champagne (one upon our arrival, the other during the week in honor of our wedding anniversary) were delicious.
