I chose the Getaway to try out a big newer ship. I am usually a loyal Royal Caribbean customer but I did not like the ports or the time in ports on the bigger newer RC ships. This cruise had two days at sea and one day at each, Roatan, Belize City, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. The ship was clean and the cabins were large. The food was very good but we got the free upgraded dining when we booked it so we tried all the specialty restaurants. There were big water slides and the ropes course was fun and scary. There was mini golf and shuffle board and all the normal cruise stuff. I did feel that Norwegian was always trying to get more money out of you. More than I remembered on RC. The one think that I would say that is a negative is that this ship has the Haven on it and it takes up a good piece of the ship. The pool that is normally the main pool is the adult pool and the family pool is this tiny 4 x 4 that was too tiny to even enjoy. My 12 year old had nothing to do on the ship. He didn't want to go in the club because he felt too old but he could not hang at the bigger pool. We did the arcade and all the other cruise stuff but it was boring for him on the ship days. ( for me too but I'm not much for the days at sea. I prefer the ports.)

I can say that when anything went wrong the cruise line was quick to do everything they could to make things perfect. We had a few minor problems and they sent us chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of wine to our room. The 80's party was fun as well as the comedy club. The Million Dollar Quartet show was awesome. I didn't see the Burn the Floor show but others in my group did and said it was great too. The Illusuionarium show was good. Starts really hokey but when they get to the magic tricks it was good.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BD

The cabin was large with a good size bathroom for a cruise. It was the size of a small hotel room. The balcony was just big enough for two chairs.
