I chose this ship because last year I won the Free Cruise bingo raffle while on the Jewel sailing Alaska. The fine print stated we had to use the certificate within a year and it was good for a Carribean cruise only. My husband and I decided to take our kids (boys, 9 and 7) and check out the newest ship. We didn't really care about the ports, we aren't beach people, so choosing a ship with lots of entertainment was important.

The Escape did not dissapoint. Though the pool area is small for the amount of people, we made the best of it. We all loved the water slides, my oldest and husband did the ropes course twice, the boys loved the Splash Academy and husband and I enjoyed quiet dinners. Feeding the kids at the buffet first was great, My one complaint is that Splash Academy is open from 7-10:30pm in the evenings (then you pay for it) and the stage shows start at 7 or 10. We were told that we could drop them off starting at 6:45, so one of is would grab seats while the other handled drop off. My husband walked into For the Record five minutes later because the drop off line was so long.

We found the food ranged from mediocre to excellent. We loved Food Republic and Moderno and found the dining rooms to be great. The buffer was okay. Lunch there was a madhouse. We had breakfast in Taste or Savor every morning, so I could have eggs Benedict.

Cabin Review

Family Oceanview Stateroom with Large Picture Window

Cabin O1

This room setup was great. We loved having a large bathroom with a tub and the kids had their own space. Having their beds near the window allowed us to get them settled, close the curtain and then get ourselves ready. There was so much storage, we actually had empty drawers.

Our room attendant was pleasant and did a decent job. The first night she didn't leave a towel animal and my 7 yo was sad. I asked her nicely the next day if she could do one for him and she said of course and every night there was one there. It wasn't a huge deal, but it made him so excited to come home every night to see what was waiting for him.

The one complaint was that our room shared a wall with Splash Academy and we could hear them. Especially when they were using microphones to page the kids being picked off. I had a white noise app on my phone and we were able to block it out. Also this room and our neighbors was separate frkm the hall and where the crew were working a lot. Again fine, but if you are noise sensitive, this may not be the room for you.

Port Reviews

Miami

We rented a car from Budget, dropped it at their 2nd street location and then took a shuttle to the ship. Our bags went from the van to the porter and we went inside. I didn't time how long it took, but the line moved fast and we were on the ship pretty quickly.
