This was our first cruise, along with two friends who hadn't cruised before either. We were all a little apprehensive, particularly with the idea of being herded on & off ship, into restaurants, etc. But we were very pleasantly surprised. We chose Holland America on the recommendation of our travel agent, as HAL caters to the more mature cruiser group, has mid-sized ships & dress is "country club casual".
Positives:
Excellent service - nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are so happy and, although extremely busy, always find the time to say a few words or enjoy a joke.
Cabin Review
Superior Verandah Suite
Definitely worth paying for the upgrade to a superior verandah suite. Our friends were in a verandah suite & there was no comparison. Our cabin had much more closet/storage space, a bigger seating area, a much larger bathroom with jacuzzi bath tub & shower, & separate shower, & double vanity unit, plus a much larger verandah.
