We traveled for the 8th time on a Princess Cruise hoping the new Ruby Princess would be more than expected as a new ship and as a repeat customer that is easy to satisfy. We cruised on the Ruby Princess from April 11th - April 18th. Our suite was very nice & roomy. Cruise went well except for a few bad attitudes with the bar help who always seemed to be overwhelmed. Someone asked for four mohitos at the mid ship pool bar and the female bartender rolled her eyes and tossed a cup. Not a good sign for the first hour on the ship. The ship was beautiful and and overall had a pretty good cruise. We were very disappointed in the overall food on the ship as well as many of the other passengers. Princess has resorted to sandwiches only at the lunch time buffet everyday. On previous cruises there were hot choices and the Horizon Court had one side open all day. The Ruby only had the Cafe at the back of the ship open many of the days and not a lot to choose from. We resorted to the pizza when nothing good at the restaurant. It was pretty good pizza. Most ships pride themselves on their midnite buffet. The Ruby Princess puts out the left over food from dinner at a very small cafe setting at the back of the ship every night, some was nasty. Of course we ate well, they could use a new chef, just thought Princess was cutting back way too much. Many of the shows are not planned very well, could use a new cruise director. Why would the majority of the shows be planned at 7:00 pm or 7:30 pm on days that you were at a port. When you arrive back on the ship; after cleaning up and getting dressed you do not have much time time to eat dinner and see a show unless the show is late. Poor scheduling. I would also re think Ocho Rios, you get off the ship and it is like visiting a slum in a tropical setting. Many nicer islands out there. This all would have been told at the question and answer review I was selected for on Thursday but I was not picked to attend after filling out the questionnaire as instructed the day before. Overall had a good time, I will try another cruise line in 6 months and finally break away from being a loyal Princess customer. With todays economy there are a lot of cruise lines willing to go the extra mile for their passengers and make you feel like you got your monies worth. By the way if you do use Princess, the Sanctuary was pretty good if you can reserve a couple of chairs. We didn't know you could reserve in advance for the week. Good idea to do so. See ya on Norwegian in November.
