We chose the cruise cause we wanted to try Regal. As always , we stayed in an inside cabin, a sideway cabin which we had on another ship n really liked. This turned out to be the worst ever---the bathroom door was slanted and the door could only open at a 90* angle making it a tight squeeze between the closet n the door. We HAD TO unscrew the top bar to let the bathroom door open wider!!! So it was left open all 10 days. Poorly designed at best. NEVER get these sideway cabins on Regal. The ship was lacking a 3rd staircase in the mid ship area---so making for extra wait for the elevators when we'd gladly have walked up or down. We didn't like anytime dining coz the waiters aren't the same or are they expecting extra tips. We waited so long for our dinner that we can't find seats at the theater. Theater was also poorly designed that we can't see 1/4 of the what was going on where we sat! At one point, all three actors were so in lined that we only saw the back of the one closest to the outside, the other two completely obscured by his back!! We always make the effort to go early to secure a better seat from then on....IF ONLY dinner more promptly served. Food was plentiful---the most papaya available than all the past 14 cruises we went on with Princess. Food was aplenty. Never share a big table ---coz though we had ordered food, water waited till the other 4 spots were filled (these came much later) before our food came. We didn't know them nor do we want to make small talk that dragged on and on. WHY can't our food sooner??

St Petersburg needs more than 2 days.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Rostock Walking Tour
Drizzling. Hop on Hop off had gone to port to pick up passengers, so with the light rain, we quickly took it. Apparently where we dock--is not on their usual circle of stops, so they made 4 circles before they took us back to port. Other options were to take the ferry or the train back on your own. So we picked the stop around city center n stayed till they make the 3rd round to get back on. It was the only bus going around Rostock. ...guide spoke perfect English, n did it in both German n English since other Germans came on board curing these rounds around town.

We waited too long for their 1st bus to get to where we stayed. #13 Rosenborg Castle. Ran into friends who had another map of another company---seems their route makes a bigger loop. not sure if they run more frequently.

  • Temppeliaukio Church (The Rock Church)
Very experienced tour guide...told us all we need to know n then let us loose. SO we don't have to follow her every min. Need change for bathroom at church...US$ or Euro .

Ship docked close to City Hall---easy walk. We've done this port before so didn't want to go out to Sculpture garden again....which everyone should do once.

VERY congested traffic, so we had to skip 1 church at the end to get back to ship on time. We voted, n we wanted to be sure we make it back on time.

  • Hermitage Museum
The Hermitage did not plan well...thousands of people waiting in line to get in. Should have a better scheduled time for different groups to go in. Then bags had to be checked in--another mess. Outside tour groups use smaller vans which might get us into tighter/closer spots for drop off etc.
Guide wasn't the best...maybe too new. She didn't even hold a flag for us to spot her. We only had 13 in our group. We fellow passengers started looking out for each other, making sure we are all together.

Rainy day, so had to stay in covered section, so missed most of the sights.

  • Stockholm
City Hall was gd...can walk to after shuttle dropped us off at Opera house. We docked far from Stockholm and ship provided free shuttle which was gd.
We had to buy lunch in Old town, but they do take charge card at bakeries. NOT cheap. We enjoyed exploring on our own, but don't know what the important things to look for even when we passed them. We lucked out on catching the 1st 10am English tour at City Hall so didn't waste any time.

  • Kadriorg Palace
Too many people crammed into Old town. Everyone waiting for bathroom. Too much amber selling. Kadriorg PINK castle was worth seeing.
Not sure how we could do it on our own.

I think too many ships in port same day...
tour guide was smart---she said everything on the bus, so we won't miss a word before we follow her up to where the view is.
