Great way to show elderly parents some of Europes highlights in comfort and without the hassles of overland transport and accommodation and introduce them to cruising, Cruise itself was great, ports visited from Barcelona to Venice gave a good snapshot of Italy and organised tour in Florence was very good. However, whilst it was nice to see Rome briefly, traffic meant that spent more time travelling to and from city than sightseeing. Recommend doing longest tour you can manage there or book own transport.

Ship felt like it was modernised and refurbed recently with good set ups in rooms, large screen tvs and up to date on board information systems. However WiFi/ internet access is woeful and terribly expensive and charged by the minute not by quantity of data used....

Food is good, service fantastic and itinerary well chosen for a quick 12 day cruise including Monte Carlo (by tender boat so can be a bit difficult if have mobility issues) Naples where cruising in past Versuvius is a highlight, Scicily, and then beautiful island of Corfu, the fantastic old towns of Dubrovnick and Kotor with spectacular cruises in and out and being moored almost in the old town of Kotor, and of course the cruise into Venice. Would happily do this cruise again and Barcelona has got to be one of the best places to embark from, great cruise terminal and process for embarking where you can sit in comfort enjoying refreshments until you are called and then immediately processed....no unnecessary queuing it's great.

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VF

Modernised with large screen wall mount TV, additional storage space and slightly larger balcony due to position on ship. Very comfortable and would happily book this one again.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Brilliant city to stay a few days pre cruise. Best cruise terminal we've experienced.

Toulon

Nice little Port but really just a stepping off point to see nearby coast.

Monaco (Monte Carlo)

Great location and easy to explore on foot (though a few steep hills) without booking excursions. We're setting up for Grand Prix. Tour of palace gardens and car museum both interesting and worth doing. Food prices ok at restaurants, and lots of choices, could spend a fortune if you wanted.

Naples

Brilliant city, did hop on hop off bus to get a good look around whole city which was worthwhile and then had real Naples pizza near shoreline looking out across bay of Naples to Vesuvius. Great shops and too many historical sites to list but be aware a number of smaller shops close for a few hours in afternoon before reopening around 4pm.

Taormina (Messina)

Nice little seaport at Messina as unable to stop at original Taormina destination due to weather.

Dubrovnik

Beautiful old city took a taxi tour which was good value, took us down the coastlines and to look out points above the city before dropping us next to great little restaurant outside old city walls. Spent hours walking old city, shopping and eating local food. Good prices and while targeting tourists never felt ripped off.

Kotor

Ship docks almost in the city so everything in walking distance. Nice old walled town to explore on foot in spectacular mountain setting. Like Dubrovnik targets tourists but you do not feel like you are getting a bad deal, prices are fair and so close to ship that you don't need to buy food, drink in town if you don't want to.

Venice

Ship stayed overnight at end of cruise so gave time to explore and get bearings for disembarking next day without luggage. Beautiful city to explore walking, by boat or gondala (though not cheap) and restaurants and many shops good and reasonably priced so long as not in St Marks square where prices are over inflated. Worth staying a few nights and exploring Mrano Etc as well.

Corfu

Beautiful island explored through local taxi ride around highlights in mountains, secluded beaches (too cold to swim) small villages and great local produce. Bought local olives, breads and cheeses to enjoy later on the cruise. This wa actually port before Dubrovnik but I missed it when completing review so is out of order. Need transport to explore island and local taxis good value for the day.
