we looked around new Orleans a little before we set sail but did not do in depth exploring. boarding the ship went smoothly, but disembarkation was horrible. you had to leave your cabin by 7 a.m. and go to your assigned area and it was 9 a.m. before we could get in a very long line to start the process. the line to get through customs was overcrowded, we finally got out of the terminal at 11 a.m. the cabin was the size we expected but it was so hot and the beds were hard as a brick. they were very prompt about coming to look at the air conditioner and said nothing was wrong. it was so hot in the cabin that we could not sleep and were actually sweating at night while trying to sleep. they did bring us a fan but could only give us one and we were mother and son so the beds were separated. you could not get comfortable on the beds because they were so hard. dining was good. the staff were friendly and the food was good, the entertainment during dining was very good. the buffet was good but not outstanding. I did not like the soda package, they only had can soda and not fountain drinks. I had to wait at the over packed bars to get my soda and that took a long time, a lot of times the drink I got was flat(they poured it for me into my glass that I purchased). entertainment and activities were average as compared to other cruise ships we have traveled. my son did the scuba package that he booked through the ship and was very pleased. he was taken into a classroom and taught the basic of what he needed to know, then taken scuba diving of 30 feet, afterwards he had tacos and $1 beer. he loved it and still had time to shop and see mexico. we have gone and will go to mexico again but will never travel on carnival again. need to mention that we had an inside cabin so maybe the more expensive cabins have better beds and cooler rooms.

Cabin Review

Interior Upper/Lower

I would have rather slept on a lounge chair on deck. the bed was hard as a brick and the room was so hot we could not sleep and were actually sweating when we were laying down to sleep. it ruined the cruise portion of our trip because we were so uncomfortable at night. words cannot describe how horrible it was. this was last years cruise so I don't remember the cabin number but only that it was an inside cabin

Port Reviews

New Orleans

there was a shopping center right by the port, so you can check your luggage and do some shopping and eat. loved it. checking in seemed to run pretty smooth, long line of course but not more than I expected.
