Although we are highly experienced cruisers, we had never been on a Transatlantic cruise, nor had we been to any part of Europe. Most of our experiences were 7 nights, returning to the same port of embarkation. We chose this repositioning cruise mostly because we love new experiences, new ports of call, and new places that we haven't seen already. The Regal Princess is a newer ship. She's big and beautiful, clean and exceptionally well crewed. We enjoyed the food and the service at the restaurants. My wife and I are both 60 years old, so relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the endless sea is something that we like. A few of the drawbacks that I will note about this cruise were the quantity and quality of the scheduled entertainment. When you are at sea for six days in a row, you need lots of diversions to employ your free time, and this cruise was lacking in that department.Just a few bands every day that some folks enjoyed dancing to, a few specialty acts, and a limited amount of stage shows in the theater that we enjoyed.

Once we got to our first port of call, the Azores Islands, we sere ready to get off the ship for a few hours The port was nice, but not very well merchandised by the locals. Limited shops, and the town could use a face lift to make it quaint. There's a small indoor mall that you can walk to with free Wi-Fi. Two days later, we stopped in Cherbourg, France. This is a lovely old city with lots to see. WWII history buffs will find this area rich in fodder. The battle of Normandy was fought nearby. Next stop was Brugges, Belgium. We put in at Blankenburge, and took a wonderful train ride to Brugges, where we grabbed a bus to town, and enjoyed a wonderful day of shopping and lunch at a lovely cafe on the downtown square. Belgian Chocolate is a must, and there are many specialty shoppes to indulge. Next stop, Rotterdam, Netherlands. This was by far our favorite port of call. Be sure to get up early to enjoy the long trip down the canal that connects Rotterdam with the sea. This is the most amazing sea port in the world. Don't miss out on this incredible visual experience. In Rotterdam, spend your day in The "Markthal", which is the most unique and incredible shopping and dining experience we have ever encountered. Awesome stop! Rotterdam's modern, unusual architecture will leave you in awe. No place like it that I have found yet. On to our last stop and debarkation in the city of Copenhagen, Denmark. We did a city tour for a few hours before they dropped us at the airport. Allow plenty of time at this airport for security checks and walking miles to get to your airline gate. All in all, we greatly enjoyed the cruise. When you consider the low price we paid for the cruise and airfare, I think it was a bargain. We would do it again in a heartbeat!

Lovely but small. No sofa to sit on. Had to watch TV on the bed.

A real WOW port! Grab a seat to view the canal trip from the sea to the city. Unbelievable scenery!
