Princess Cruise is rated the best for Alaska. We did a 7-day cruise with an 8-day land tour. The cruise was very good. The only negatives were that some of the wait staff at dinner weren't as well trained as they should be and one never got wine orders straight. Skip the art auctions - high pressure and drawn out raffles. The guides on shore excursions (local companies) arranged by Princess were excellent. The food was very good. Housekeeping was great and very helpful. The nightly stage productions were quite good too. The magician guy wasn't good.

We spent three days in Vancouver before the cruise - on our own instead of through Princess. It was easy and fun. By booking our own hotel room we saved a lot (Princess books high-end hotels). The trip to Victoria on Vancouver Island is worth your time and money. I highly recommend the cruise and the location.
