Celebrity is our favorite cruise line and we always enjoy ourselves. It markets to the active over "40" crowd. Unlike Holland-America which we've found to be kind of an old age home for cruisers, this line is about right for us. The only problem i have with the Summit is that it is a revamped Millennium class vessel. In other words, we always have an AquaClass cabin which was easy to convert, but "Blu" is not up to the standard on other ships. Otherwise, the cruise is what we expect from Celebrity.
As for the ports, they were as expected. We took it easy this time and did 2 catamaran trips (to islands) and a cooking class in Dominica. I strongly recommend the class or taking a cruise that stops at this wonderful island. We've been there before. The cabins are well maintained and are identical to those on other ships. They are adequate in size and have all the amenities you expect on a large ship. The service throughout the ship is always excellent and the crew worked hard to make the trip a pleasure. We went with 3 other couples and 2 of them had not taken Celebrity previously. All of the couples plan to go on this line again.
My wife and I strongly recommend a cruise from San Juan. We always stay a few days prior and sometimes after the cruise at a resort. San Juan is worth your time and the beaches and people there are great.
The cabin was what we expected from Celebrity. It's always the same and we like it like that. It's nice to know this in advance and not worry about unexpected problems.
just walked around in the shopping area. Nothing special. Just what you expect in St. Thomas if you're not going to snorkling, boating or going to the beach
We stayed near San Juan for a couple of days before the cruise. If you've never been, go!!! it's a wonderful place to visit. There is a lot to see. The restaurants are great and i love the people. We've been to San Juan numerous times. Generally, we stay in the Ocean Park area which is residential at a small hotel rather than Condado which is the resort area. However, if you've never been, it may be worth staying in town for a couple of days before you cruise. It's only a short ride across the harbor from the cruise port.
