This was our first cruise with Holland America and we weren't disappointed. The cabin was the best we've had on a cruise and the embarkment and disembarkment and the shore excursions were well organized. It took only 15
minutes to disembark! The entertainment was very good with a variety of different shows and every show was well produced and fantastically performed. The Konsingdam is a beautiful ship and even though the ship had a technical glitch in one port which delayed our departure for 3 hours, the Captain and crew had our safety a priority and it caused very little if any inconvenience. The Captain kept us well informed throughout and we didn't miss any ports or sights. One of the bonuses is we weren't bombarded with photographers trying to take our picture on gala nights. We were celebrating our 10th Anniversary and were pleased to receive a card from the Captain and a call from Customer Services to congratulate us. Although the weather was unpredictable and sometimes wet for June, the itinerary was perfect and we would highly recommend this cruise to anyone interested in seeing this part of the world!
Very comfortable, spacious and well laid out. The shower was the biggest we've had on a cruise ship! The products provided (Elemis) were beautiful.
A Canal Tour is a must in Amsterdam.
Take a canal tour to see the city. It's a bit of a walk from the port into town and would suggest a taxi when returning to the ship. Hop on and off buses are located at the dock but they can get stuck in traffic. A very expensive city but really nice. Enjoyed watching the changing of the guards but make sure to not get to close or the guards will definitely tell you to move out of the way.
One of our favorite ports. Took a taxi to the top of old town Tallinn which we highly recommend. There are two good photo spots at the top and if purchasing amber it appeared to be less expensive then in the lower part of Tallinn. This is a precious, well preserved town. Took a taxi from the bottom of Tallinn to the ship for 6 Euros. Well worth it after a day of walking.
The ship provided a free shuttle into town (and return). We walked to the Haga district (which is quite small). Gothenburg is a nice, clean town but if you want to shop you won't find a lot of souvenir shops.
