We took this October 2013 cruise as a honeymoon cruise, even though we were married in Jamaica in September 2012. It gave us the chance to visit Hawaii, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, Auckland, Bay of Islands and finishing off in Sydney. Unfortunately, we did not have anytime to visit Australia as our return flight departed within 3 hours of docking beside the Opera House. The cruise was fantastic!!! (as expected). We had a balcony cabin (9217) which is situated on the bubble in the middle of the ship. Well worth the extra money! At the time that we booked in 2012, our cabin was priced at $2200.00usd/pers. A few months later in early 2013, we had the option of purchasing a drink package ($1900.00usd value) which involved re-pricing our cabin (+$600.00/pers.). Ended up saving us $700.00usd., so it was well worth it! And it WAS worth it. The food on board was excellent in all of the restaurants and if there was something that you wanted that wasn't on the menu for that night, the waiter would go to whichever restaurant and get it for you! THAT'S SERVICE! We purchased the 5 dinner specialty package and thoroughly enjoyed each meal! We even went back to Muranos for a second meal. The bartenders were extremely generous with the pouring of drinks...so much so that I had o ask a few to tone down the drinks! Four ounces of rum per glass when you are drinking 8-12 per day, coupled with 1/2 dozen or so Becks and 2-4 glasses of wine at dinner can become taxing but I suffered through it all smiling. Our cabin was kept spotless daily and we compensated our cabin Steward properly! Our ONLY complaint was the cruise had to end!! We had already sailed on Carnival Victory(7 day Southern Caribbean) and Norwegian Sky (4 day Bahamas) but Celebrity set the standard for all of future cruises. We have since sailed on the Celebrity Eclipse(14 day Southern Caribbean) and also loved that ship as it is the sister ship of the Solstice. We would love to do the South Pacific cruise again but the price for the balcony has almost tripled!! Skates!! Oh well, it was a trip of a lifetime and I did get to enjoy my favorite Island in the world, Bora Bora...and it was exactly as I envisioned it. Royal Caribbean does offer a 16 day cruise from Sydney to Hawaii with inside cabins starting at $1917.00cad. Might be something to consider! Anyways all, CRUISE ON!!!
