We are regular cruisers, we shared this cruise with friends. Japan is always difficult to access and using the cruise option gives comfortable access to the west coast which most tours avoid. we enjoy the process of cruising as much as the destinations. We had been on the Sea Princess only three weeks before on a last minute cruise and we knew what to expect. The furniture in all but the two recently renovated areas is very tired. The cushioning in all other chairs is worn out, carpets are worn, the pool areas are in dire need of a full re-fit and the Vista lounge leaked every day. In our room, we had airconditioning faults, rotten curtains, a ceiling leak outside, the interior room opposite had major floods, the w.c. backed up probably 7 or 8 times requiring remediation. The in room wifi was slow and often did not work at all and it was cut off very early on the last morning. The television system suffered many outs, the ship navigation channel was down for the eight cruising days home. Issues in the kitchen saw meals often delivered luke warm and the meal variety in the dining rooms was extremely limited for a seven week cruise. The saving grace in all this was the staff who soldiered on valliantly even while trying to make some sense of the silly Princess policy of marshalling Princess tour groups on board. Princess just simply not get it. We are adults, let us off the ship with instructions as to where and when to meet for our coaches. This way we can spend some time at the portside shops and enjoy the welcome ceremonies and so on instead of being cooped up for an hour or more in the theatre. Hopefully, one day they might get it? I am hoping that Princess will pass all three of this age and class of ship, Sun, Sea and Dawn, to P.& O. as soon as possible, they are not up to scratch and require a long time in dry dock for a TOTAL refit.

Pass it on please.

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin BC C421
Cabins are basic and smallish. Everything is twenty years worn or at least it looks that way. Our curtains were rotted. The carpets stained. Chips and scuffs on the walls. Vacuum toilet failed many times. Television was tiny and system broke down often. The airconditioning had to be repaired. My swipe card for the door failed 15 times and had to be replaced each time. Our steward was an absolute treasure and we rewarded him hansomely for his efforts in spite of our dissatisfaction with many other elements.
