We paid for the Scenic Diamond but got the Scenic Cubic Zirconia!

First our pickup at the airport was over an hour late. All other cruise lines had picked up their people and left. Next, there was a strike on our scheduled trip from Paris to Bordeaux. Scenic told us late the evening before to be prepared for a 10-hour bus ride and bring food or bring Euros to buy water and lunch. We were originally on a first class train. Going on a 10-hour bus ride on a Luxury cruise that we paid $16K+ for was not an option for us. We booked a flight at our own expense at an elevated last minute price. If they had informed us earlier in the day, our small group could have hired a private driver or rented a car (5 hrs) at a far lesser expense.

It was our 35th anniversary so we splurged on a suite. What a mistake. We were in a port 95% of the time looking at the gangplank (see pic). Prior to booking, I asked the Scenic agent for a recommendation and selected the suite she recommended. This cabin should not be a suite and should be priced comparable with the (lack of) view. Also, the suites are not much bigger but come with a much bigger price tag! We could have easily stayed at a 5 star+ hotels and ate at fabulous restaurants with lots of cash leftover for what we paid to wake up looking at a gangplank and people walking right next to our balcony.

Looked at the gang plank so couldn't use the balcony because of constant traffic going in and out of the ship.
