We chose this cruise out of New Orleans because we don't have many options in Alabama. Mobile doesn't have a boat anymore. Jacksonville is also a nice port, but we have been on the Elation before and wanted a new adventure. The service on the Triumph was really amazing. The stewards, the dining staff, everyone was very nice. We loved this cruise. They brought us a cake for our Anniversary and were just really friendly. It's a great getaway, even if you've been on nicer boats or better cruise ports. Oh, and Matey, the fill in cruise director, and his team were A-mazing and kept it fun for all ages!
About the food...Guy's Burgers were our favorite, as well as the breakfast buffets. The dining room food on this boat wasn't the greatest (to us). The pizza was also very good and we never felt we were lacking for something good on late nights.
Overall GREAT cruise. :-)
Cabin was fine. We didn't expect anything great since we waited so long to book. Our friends were 2 doors down from us and their cabin was laid out MUCH better, so I would suggest that one if you have a choice. Room 2208 was a good layout for 2 people. The bathroom was in the corner, rather than by the front door. Made it much more roomy! We did hear some noise at night from down below but we got used to it.
We got off the boat to purchase a few tshirts, but we did not feel comfortable travelling into progresso. It's a strange little port, in our opinion. Kind of dissappointed. We spent the rest of the time on the ship.
We enjoyed a night of eating and browsing in NOLA. We stayed at the Wyndham hotel in the French Quarter. VERY nice staff and the room was okay...nothing fancy. It's a fun place to visit for a short time.
