My husband and myself had sailed to Boston and Canada last year on Princess cruise line, and we liked the two cities again, that we wanted to go again. My husband choose the Queen Mary 2 because he wanted a different experience. First, the casino was so tiny for such a large ship. The liquor store was also very small and limited in choices for you to purchase alcohol to take home. The ships décor was somewhat nice, but I did not particularly care for some of the paintings. They did not capture your attention. The staff were very professional and nice. Breakfast and lunch was pretty standard, franks, hotdogs, pizza etc. The breakfast had no waffles or French toast in the buffet area where most people ate. I ate in the dining room three nights, and when dinner arrived, I could not eat the food. It was so lackluster. They mentioned Maryland crab cakes on the menu. When I got the crab cakes, they were the type that was frozen and dressed up to present well. It tasted horrible. They had no specialty restaurants either. The bed and pillows that we had were the best I had slept on. They were so comfortable. If you decided to eat dinner at the buffet area which we did, you were very limited to choices. The amount of selections appeared to be sparse. However, they had an endless supply of delicious cookies everyday. I spent a lot of time in the casinos (which did not pay much) because I was bored. There were hardly any activities to do onboard, and the activities Director did not advertise when there was a show.
The cabin was nice, but instead of an obstructed view, there was no view at all.
