After a noisy flight, thank you parents of screaming children, from the worst airport I have ever used – Luton –my wife and I left Palma airport and were directed to where coaches were waiting to take us to the Thomson Majesty. The Thomson representative told us where to queue; at this point there were just me and my wife. More passengers arrived and the group were told to queue in the opposite direction I asked one of the representatives what was going on – “we are waiting for the coach to arrive”. We eventually boarded a coach which had been parked there since we arrived.

The transfer to the Thomson Majesty was uneventful and the check in procedure was easy. The Thomson Majesty is clearly showing its age with peeling paint and areas of rust.

One afternoon we were at the back of the ship on a sundeck when the engines were started up this was accompanied by what looked like black snow which turned out to be soot which covered the deck and settled on my hair and clothing. When I contacted the reception they offered to clean my clothes but I had already washed the soot off.

Cabin Review

Cabin Outside

Our cabin, number 314, was tiny two single beds separated by a small chest of drawers. If this was not bad enough the toilet / shower cubicle was appalling. The toilet seat was painted a hideous pink and the paint was peeling, the shower area had mould growing on the floor and up the walls. My wife went to the reception and said she would not stay in the cabin the response was that problems would be resolved which they were – the toilet seat was replaced and the shower cubicle was re-grouted which meant that we were unable to have a shower until the grout had set. The cabin was so cramped that my wife and I had to take turns when changing our clothes one of us would have to lay on a bed to let the other get changed, There was so little hanging space that most of our clothes were left in our suitcases which had to be manoeuvred under each bed as there was so little floor space.

The cabin opposite clearly had a problem with dampness there were two industrial air blowers in the cabin and in the hallway and at another time there were further air blowers in other parts of the hallway with the over-whelming smell of damp carpets.
