One of the biggest problems with MSC is its rude passengers. We have cruised several times before on both Carnival and Norwegian. Generally we take one cruise a year and on some select years have been on two in a year. We enjoy cruising and were excited to try out MSC, however, after trying MSC and enduring its focus on European passengers as opposed to American passengers we don't believe it is the cruise line for us and won't be returning.

The boat itself was a very nice looking boat with a lot of fun features. However, the elevators for whatever reason were always full and seemed harder to access then on other cruise lines. It made getting around very frustrating, especially with young children that can't always climb stairs. The casino was small and did not have a good selection of machines and table games and in fact it seemed lightly used in comparison to other cruises. The shopping mall aboard did have some nice watches and jewelry but had a very small selection of liquor and I did not find a store that sold general merchandise while on board.

The Black Crab dining room was poorly managed and filled with confusing and seemed as though they could not figure out how to get through a dinner service efficiently. We abandoned the dining room after the first night due to it being so poorly operated. (I prefer NCL's everyone on anytime method) The buffets did have good food, but it was the same stuff on repeat over and over again. One note about the food, contrary to what others have said it is not bad, but it is European focused and so it was and is not for the most part not the type of food an American consumer wants. With that said while the food tasted fine, I was not happy with it because I did not like the offerings do to me not being European. I think it is important to make that distinction. We did also try the restaurants for an extra charge and the food was good, however, service extremely slow. Breakfast and lunch were also fine on board, not great but fine.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin appeared nice at first glance. However, it had some signs of wear and tear when you looked closer and the cabin was missing items we needed like beach towels, that we had to request two days into the cruise. Also the sheets felt like they were damp and not quite dried in the dryer enough before boarding.
