Adventure of the Seas Cruise Review by cruising_again_2016
- Sail Date: June 2016
- Destination: Southern Caribbean
The ship: We all hated the layout of the ship. It was set up very strange. It seems like they are just letting it go since it will by in dry dock for an overhaul in November. It needs a lot of work. It wasn't terrible but it definitely showed its age. W e have been on ships around the same age that were in much better shape. Most bathrooms around the ship smelled like urine or had that outhouse smell.
The cabin: We had people in our crowd with balconies and mostly inside cabins. Our cabin was okay for an inside cabin. We liked the layout but we had no hot water for 3 days and the sink was luke warm at all times with minimal pressure. Two other rooms in our party 1 inside and one balcony smelled. They tried to accommodate with fresheners and air machines but in never stopped the stank.
The Dining: Windjammer was boring and never ever changed for breakfast or lunch. The breakfast and lunch was not very good. It was fair at best for dinner the one time we went. The breakfast in the dining room was better but not great. One day my eggs were so under cooked I just left and waited to get of the ship to eat. The Dining room for dinner was pretty good some nights and very good on others. The biggest problem was the consistency of the food being not very warm. Johnny Rockets was excellent for the 6.75 fee. Giovanni's was outstanding and I would highly recommend. We wish we would have bought the dinner package of 3 nights for 75 a person.
The entertainment and activities: We liked chloe and the staff. They were funny and entertaining. The pool entertainment was okay but the music kind of sucked because they only played one kind of music. Mix it up a little and don't do the same routine every sea day.
The service: I thought overall the service was poor. There were some great bartenders and some really bad rude ones. The staff in wind jammers were friendly and helpful. The help desk staff were very friendly and went out of their way to solve your problems. The casino dealers and pit bosses were terrible and ruined my first impression of RC since I like to hang in the casino. The bartenders in the casino were great. The waiters in the dining room were only good if you had the same table every night. We had anytime dining and it was hardly anytime. The waiter every night said that we need to make a reservation every night at the same time for the same amount of people at either 6 or 8 or we would have a problem getting a table. We had to wait up to an hour a couple of nights for a table because they were holding them for their regular reserved groups. If I wanted 6 or 8 I would sign up for early or late. We didn't get our luggage until 10 at night even though we boarded before noon. One of our bags was delivered 3 hallways away and we found it. It kind of changed all of our plans the first night.
The ports and shore excursions: They ports were the reason we choose this cruise and they were awesome. We did all of island excursions on our own. The people on all of our ports that we went to were friendly and helpful.
Disembarkation: Was totally awful!!! It took for ever and they seemed very unorganized. It was the worst embarkation we have ever been through. It was bad on the ship with no help from the crew and even worse in customs.
We were told by so many people that RC is so much better than the others. So we were really looking forward to this cruise. Boy were we disappointed!!! We had a great time thanks to good family, friends and alcohol. By the way get the drink package if you will drink more than 6 drinks a day. It is easy to drink way more with the heat, food, walking and long days.We would never go on this ship again and as of now we would not cruise with RC again.
