To answer my question about whether we were nuts, the answer is YES, but we still had a good time.

Some Background:

My wife and I have friends who thought it would be fun if we went on a cruise together. Being the big cruisers of the group, we did a bunch of research and talking with both the friends and some family who decided to join in and the only timing that would work for everyone was Christmas or New Year's. So we were limited to holiday cruises, which are always more expensive. In order to give the largest opportunity to folks, and because we prefer to be gone a couple of weeks whenever we go (flying from Canada we want to make the most of it) we decided on back to back 7 day cruises out of San Juan on Jewel of the Seas.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E2

Cabin was comfortable, with plenty of storage. TV in the room was slow to react, and some of the systems built into it didn't work well.

The balcony was nicely sized, but due to the location on the ship, and the fact it was stepped back from the edge with a considerable overhang it was a bit darker than the balconies on many other ships we have been on. Makes it easier to read, but you get less sun.

On this itinerary though, there were few sea days (3 in 14 days), so we didn't spend whole days out there anyway.
