My main reason for choosing this cruise was the destination. I travelled with my sister & brother-in-law & we all wanted to visit St Petersburg. The fact that this cruise visited the city for 3 days & was on the Eclipse was a bonus. This is a lovely ship which I had sailed on before. The crew are friendly & professional. We were disappointed to find out that Celebrity had stopped doing formal evenings which for us is a fun part of a cruise. We would have appreciated knowing this when the decision was made at the end of last year rather then just before our cruise as it would have saved us some money. My cabin (8104) was right at the front of the ship so it had an amazing view & was much bigger than I had expected. However, it is quite noisy when the ship is coming into port so I was awake very early most mornings.

We had pre-booked the Tuscan & Murano restaurants & we especially enjoyed the Murano. We also ate in Bistro 5 on a couple of nights & had lovely meals. The guest performers for the evening shows were all very good. My brother-in-law attended the iPad courses & thought they were excellent.

Our St Petersburg trip we booked with a company called Denrus which I would recommend. All our excursions that we booked through Celebrity were good value although we found doing our own thing in Stockholm ( definitely need transport into the city) & Warnemunde was fine. Overall we had an amazing holiday on a beautiful ship to some lovely ports. Definitely recommended.

Cabin Review

Ocean View 8

Cabin 08

The cabin had a fantastic view as it was right at the front of the ship with a large picture window. The cabin was very large, longer & wider than than my sister & brother-in-law's cabin although they had booked one with a balcony. It would have been even better if there had been seating in the window. Unfortunately the TV had been set up to angle to the window rather than the bed so that is an error that should be sorted out. You don't hear much from the corridor outside but it did seem noisy when the ship was coming into port & as this was always early in the morning I did get woken up early quite a bit. As it overlooks the helicopter pad there was a great view when they were practising air sea rescue! Overall the noise issues were far outweighed by the size, brightness & position of the cabin & I would definitely book it again.

Port Reviews

Stockholm

There was a problem with the shuttle buses which caused a delay to getting into the city but the cost was refunded for this. Transport is needed to get into the city from the port. The Vasa Museum is definitely worth a visit as is the Old Town. Quite a bit of walking needed to get to these.
