We are first-time cruisers in our early 60's and chose the Breakaway for our first cruise on advice from relative/travel agent. We loved the Breakaway and enjoyed the cruise very much. Bermuda was wonderful and we'd love to go back and explore it some more.
The entertainment on the Breakaway was top-notch. We saw Rock of Ages, Burn the Floor, and Cirque Dreams, We also spent several evenings listening to music at the many lounges around the ship. We quickly discovered which were our favorites and went back to those. The bartenders were friendly and efficient and the cocktail waitresses also.
We had the unlimited beverage package and 4 nights of specialty dining. We thought the food was very good at each place we tried. For the specialty dining, we did the steakhouse (Cagney's), the Hibactchi, the Brazilian Steakhouse and the French restaurant. All were fantastic! We would also try whatever the specialty drink was at each of those. Some were good. Some not.
We had a balcony room on the 9th deck, between mid and forward. I liked having the balcony. We sat on the balcony quite a bit which was very relaxing. I brought a power strip and extension cord with me based on previous reviews I had read, but we never needed them. There are 2 outlets by the vanity. The coffee maker has it's own outlet, a foreign type so you can't unplug the coffeemaker and use that one. The 2 outlets were enough to charge our cell phones, tablets and camera. The space in the room is very carefully designed to provide lots of storage space. And the coffee in the room is terrific. It's even better than the coffee in the dining rooms.
This cabin location is terrific because it is very close to the stairs and elevator.
