As previous DCL cruisers we researched a lot before booking our Alaskan cruise. Although we love Disney- the price of a basic balcony stateroom was almost the same price as a sky suite on Celebrity with many more perks. After speaking with friends who did this cruise last year and looking into all the ships that cruise through Alaska we decided on Celebrity and we are so happy we did.

We are a family of 3, Dh, myself and 10 yr old daughter and we traveled with 2 other families with children that are 10, 14, & 15. We booked with a travel agent and were able to receive the Celebrity promotion of a beverage package (we upgraded to premium) , free internet, and an onboard credit. Our agent also gave us prepaid gratuities, travel insurance and extra onboard credit. We booked a sky suite (3 in a row) so that we could be with our friends.

We flew into Seattle 2 days before and enjoyed the city. Embarkations was a breeze with priority boarding and in no time we were in Michael's Club enjoying a bloody mary before checking out the ship. The Solstice is beautiful. Even with a full ship, it didn't feel full until the sea days near the shopping venues. Rooms were ready around 1:30 and we were pleased with the size of our stateroom and the amount of storage. Luggage arrived around 3:30 and we were able to pack and enjoy the ship before dinner.

Sky Suite 2

Cabin S2

Stateroom was spacious and had excellent storage. Our 4 large suitcases fit under the bed and we had plenty of drawers to store our clothing. The bathroom is lovely and had plenty of storage as well. It was like a magic fairy came in and serviced our rooms even when were gone for a short time. She emptied our mini bar so that we could use our refrigerator for our own person drinks. The balcony was a spacious and since we traveled with 2 other families we were able to take down the partition to make a large balcony where we would sit outside and watch the incredible scenery go by.

Port Reviews

Seattle

Seattle is a wonderful city. It was very crowded in the Pike's Place Market but truly enjoyed the shops and restaurants. Had dinner at the Metropolitan Grill after we returned from cruise which was excellent but extremely pricy.

Victoria

We got off the ship took the shuttle to downtown. We walked around this beautiful city, saw the waterfront, listened to some great local young singers and had a drink at a local restaurant. Truly a gorgeous city!
