This was our fourth cruise on the Equinox and 6th with Celebrity - I should add that we have only ever cruised with Celebrity. My ratings below reflect that as before most facilities were as good as ever or very good but we really do believe standards are slipping in key areas.
What has prompted the overall average rating was our dining experience and also poor entertainment. Our evening dining in the Silhouette restaurant was the main issue which on all our previous trips have been well above average. The food was mediocre and they appear to be penny pinching having removed a full course. The service was patchy mainly due to the fact that each night the dining room was chaotic. We had booked late dining and a table for 8 - most nights we were on our own or with another couple who usually arrived a hour or so late! Despite most of the tables around us being half empty we were not allowed to move as the places were booked (one couple at our table booked the 5 night speciality dining package and only made it to their booked table for one night of the seven). As I mentioned above the whole dining room was in chaos every night. Despite us being on our own most nights the wine waiter couldn't remember our drinks.
There was no late theatre show which meant either going early or not at all and there was very little or no entertainment elsewhere on the ship.
Our cabin was clean and well serviced - the balcony showed evidence of rusting on the pipework and paint peeling off the chairs
Last visit was 30 years ago - hasn't changed too much - still beautiful - they really should retire the donkeys though
Got the wee train into town and enjoyed it
Very wet but walked around old town which is easily walk from ship - loved it
As we had visited Ephesus twice before we decided to stay in Kusadasi and as we were there 30 years ago and keen to see if it had changed - it had but sadly not for the better!
Lovely place but very expensive - next time will go to a beach
